Sustainability
Atlas Travel understands that small acts can have a large positive impact on our planet and people.
Sustainability is the way we think about and ethically manage our environmental responsibilities to ensure our planet’s health. The term is typically used to indicate initiatives and actions aimed at preservation in four distinct pillars: human, social, economic and environmental.
Healthier present and future generations
Lower environmental impact of waste and pollution
Long-term economic growth
Social & Individual Well-Being
Business Travel Sustainability
The airline industry is accountable for 2.4% of carbon dioxide emissions across the globe*. As transnational interconnectivity and the need for air travel rises, emissions from the airline industry are also likely to rise.
Atlas Travel prioritizes reducing our carbon footprint, as well as helping our clients reduce their own carbon footprint within their business travel programs.
Our reporting and analytics tools provide important CO2 impact data for our corporate clients. These calculations help clients gain knowledge on the effects their air travel patterns are having on the environment. By first understanding these impacts, we help clients learn how to off-set and reduce their carbon footprint through business travel policy changes and changing traveler behaviors.
Atlas Travel is also proud to partner with Delta Air Lines to purchase Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). SAF reduces the lifecycle carbon emissions of aviation fuel by up to 80%, as compared to conventional jet fuel. Our clients can also contribute to the usage of SAF and directly support the development and scale of fuel made from sustainably sourced, renewable waste and residual materials.

Environmentally Responsible Supply Chain
At Atlas Travel, strong partner and vendor relationships are integral to our service excellence. When reviewing criteria for which organizations we choose to do business with, we emphasize that their supply chain embraces the same ethical standards that Atlas upholds.
The meeting and events industry has also been focusing on how to make corporate meetings more sustainable, implementing new ways to offer our clients “greener” meetings through eliminating printed materials and supporting electronic documents.
In supplying goods and/or services to Atlas Travel, organizations must acknowledge our expectations for environmental responsibility. These expectations center around being stewards of the environment, minimizing negative impacts of waste and being in full compliance with applicable laws and government authorizations.
The Atlas Meetings & Events division also shares information with our clients that outlines the value of sourcing environmentally friendly and widely accessible venues and suppliers, as well as how to implement these practices when planning in-person meetings, corporate & incentive events and conferences.
Our Employees
We hold our employees to the same sustainability and environmental standards that mirror the responsibility beliefs we have as a company.
Atlas Travel’s employee-driven Corporate and Social Responsibility Committee works to continuously educate our team and evolve our sustainability measures by reminding employees of current initiatives and implementing new and progressive ideas as they arise.
For example, when we dispose of batteries improperly, the negative effect to the environment is huge. The careless disposal of cell phone and laptop batteries sends them into landfills where they decay, leak and corrode, their chemicals soaking into soil and contaminating water.
For this reason, we implemented a hazardous waste policy that outlines our guidelines for proper recycling and disposal of various toxic, flammable and corrosive products and provides tips on the safe handling of household and home office hazardous waste products.
As a result, we created an “Environmentally Friendly Home Office Practices” guide, designed to educate our staff in ways to reduce waste and electricity usage in their home office. We also share information on what to look for when purchasing office equipment and supplies. Some of the measures we outline in this guide include:
Using plants as natural air filters
Reusable items vs. single use plastics / non-sustainable materials
Cell phone chargers / other electronics unplugged when not in use
Minimizing printing of documents where possible
Turning off lights of unoccupied rooms
We seek to do right by our communities and our environment, as part of our efforts to protect our most precious resource…planet Earth.
